365 Project Day 97

I haven't done anything dangerous or involving fire lately so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.  This involves fire and danger.  But it looks cool, er hot.

Peel an apple, carve a face let it dry and this is what you get, a shrunken head.

The Examination.

Aliens or WhoVille?  Tara created this by mixing two kinds of soap together.  She put the lighter soap in first and then the heavier.  After a day or two, this is what you have.  Pretty cool methinks.

Its not every day that you come across a solar powered glow in the dark meerkat named Dough that wears glasses!!  It kind of reminds me of someone I know...

Fun with Glow Sticks.  When I saw that Woot.com had these at $3.00 for two dozen I couldn't pass it up.     :)

Photography is about capturing interesting light, but maybe I'm being too literal.

I really wanted to get this shot at 40 to 50 MPH but common sense prevailed.  This time.

Tonight Zackary and I went out to the west side to do an experiment.  We held up flourescent lights underneath the high power lines and the bulbs lit up!  Caution:  If you try this do not touch the ends of the tubes or you will get a nasty shock that could cause severe burns.  You've been warned.  Free electricity just floating around for the taking, how great is that?!  ;)  In this shot Zack is waving the tube back and forth.

365 Project Day 84

More experiments with a sound activated trigger.  This was a water balloon only partially filled with water.  Full water balloons don't make very much noise when they pop.  ;)

I put the stormtroopers to work doing a little arc welding.  :)

I mounted my laser pointer and some mirrors to a piece of plywood to get this shot.  It was an experiment that didn't exactly turn out the way I hoped.

I attempted to take a picture of the moon this morning with my phone.  The moon is the orange ball in the middle.

Want to know why CFLs are so expensive?  Take a look at what's inside of them.  Also, I'm sure the carbon footprint to manufacture the eight capacitors, six diodes, five resistors, two transistors, one inductor, and one transformer for every single CFL is not harming the environment.  Not to mention the etching process for the printed circuit board.  At least the solder is lead free.  ;)
